Perfect filter for my Audi
Thanks to K&N for making these over-sized filters that my Audi A4 really needs. I can't find any other (affordable) brands that offer the same over sized option that K&N provides, and my car needs that extra space.Plus the nut on the bottom is great because the Germans made sure to put the oil filter in the most impossible to reach places on my car.I've used about 5 of these since I bought my car and just ordered 3 more for future oil changes. Great Oil Filter
I have used the K&N HP-3001 for the last three oil changes on my 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 and I am very pleased with the performance of the filter. I learned from a Land Rover forum that this filter was an excellent replacement for the stock filter on my truck as it has outstanding flow and filtering capabilities and also allows for higher oil capacity overall. It is quite a bit longer than the stock/OEM filter but there is ample room for the filter in the engine compartment of a D2. Like others, I also appreciate the nut welded on the bottom of the filter as it makes oil changes a snap. I love not having to break out my strap wrench when doing an oil change. Great Product at a competive price
I installed this higher performance filter, and I noticed that using other regular filters, this keeps the oil cleaner longer. I am using the same all synthetic oil as I used before with improved cleaning performance. I should be able to go twice the recommended oil change with this type of filter. I read an article recently, and some of the auto manufacturers are specifying 10-12 K miles or 1 year vs. 3 months or 3000 miles. Each of our automotive and marine oil filters comes with a 1 nut welded to the top of the canister so they can be easily wrenched-off with a standard tool. Our motorcycle and ATV oil filters come with a 17 mm nut. Our oil filters use resin impregnated cellulose filter media. This allows for higher flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. High filter flow rates are important in racing vehicles where heavier grade oil is used and the oil is pumped much faster than in a standard vehicle. When the engine is circulating oil at high GPM rates, the high-flow oil filter helps reduce the loss of pressure through the filtering process. We use thicker canister walls for extra strength and durability which reduces the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris. Since I got my first car, Fram has always been the oil filter brand I would reach for. the PH8A was the standard ford oil filter for years, And I went through plenty of them.
